Tis' the season to overindulge, under-exercise, and feel just plain icky.
Every year, without fail, the holidays kick off in the Fall and continue on for months with Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Year's, etc.
And every week there's something else to challenge your healthy lifestyle, whether it's a holiday dinner, a party, a work outing...you name it.
With all these opportunities to overdo it, it's almost inevitable to feel like you've fallen off the "healthy" wagon.
And that☝️ is EXACTLY why the most popular New Year's resolution is to start a diet. 🤦♀️
It never feels good to get off track with our health, but instead of retroactively trying to starve ourselves and spend hours on the treadmill, why don't we just find a way to prevent derailing things in the first place?
Given we're already in the thick of things, I want to give you one BIG tip for keeping up with a healthy lifestyle through the end of the yea...Get the people around you on board with healthy living.
If you surround yourself with people who take care of themselves and value their health, you are way more likely to do it yourself.
Here are some ideas:
- Cook a healthy dish to bring to your next holiday meal to share with your friends and family. That way, you know you have something healthy to add to your plate and you're pleasing the other healthy folks around the table.
- Grab a friend or family member and go for a nice long walk after the meal.
- Stay away from food once you're done eating and engross yourself in conversation with your loved ones.
If you like these tips and want more, make sure you catch Episode 005 of the Fit & Nourished Mind Podcast, titled "Staying Healthy in the Midst of the Holiday Season". Em and I give TONS of good tips in this one.
PLUS, you can also check out Episode 010, which we just launched, to hear some strategies for convincing the people around you to get on board with living a healthy lifestyle.
These two episodes are two of my favorites so far because we give our best tricks -the ones we use ourselves- for staying healthy in those tough situations.
And if you love listening , I would so appreciate you leaving a review on iTunes! Here’s how.
Happy holidays, all!
